A Day for Mothers
The western world considers May 9th to be mother’s day, however, everyone in the South Asian world knows that the real mothers day is actually your wedding day.
Desi mother’s envision their child’s marriage from the time the child is barely out of diapers, if not earlier. I am not a mother yet myself, so I cannot explain this phenomenon, I can just confirm that it exists. No matter how long you have been dreaming about your wedding, trust me she’s dreamt of it for longer. Which means, like it or not, it should be her day just as much as it should be yours.
The relationship between a mother and daughter is a complex one to begin with and the tensions of a wedding don’t make things easier. So beautiful brides-to-be treat your wedding as if it was mother’s day and treat your mom with compassion and love for all that she has done for you. I hate to use a cliché but you really wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Happy Monday, my lovelies.
